Steel Burkhardt, Paris Remillard, Kacie Sheik, Caren Lyn Tackett, et al. Set for National Tour of Hair

Full casting has been announced for the national tour of Hair, which as previously reported, will begin with a brief engagement at New Haven’s Shubert Theatre (October 21-24), which is being billed as a “sneak-peek,” and then officially launch in Washington, DC, running October 26 – November 21 in the Opera House at the Kennedy Center.

With a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot, the show depicts the birth of a cultural movement in the 60’s and 70’s that changed America forever. Diane Paulus directs, with choreography by Karole Armitage.

The cast will be led by Steel Burkhardt as Berger, Paris Remillard as Claude, and Caren Lyn Tackett as Sheila. Additional principal cast members will include Matt DeAngelis as Woof, Phyre Hawkins as Dionne, Kaitlin Kiyan as Crissy, Darius Nichols as Hud, and Kacie Sheik as Jeanie.

The Tribe will also feature Shaleah Adkisson, Emily Afton, Nicholas Belton, Larkin Bogan, Corey Bradley, Marshal Kennedy Carolan, Laura Dreyfuss, Mike Evariste, Lulu Fall, Tripp Fountain, Nkrumah Gatling, Allison Guinn, Josh Lamon, John Moauro, Christine Nolan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Kate Rockwell, Cailan Rose, Tanesha Ross, Jen Sese, Lawrence Stallings, and Lee Zarrett.

The creative team will feature Scott Pask (scenic design), Michael McDonald (costume design), Kevin Adams (lighting design) and Acme Sound Design (sound design).

Hair won the 2009 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival as well as the Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical. The production was also nominated for an additional seven Tony Awards including Best Direction, Best Choreography, Best Costume Design, Best Lighting Design and Best Sound Design. The cast recording was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.
