Steffanie Leigh to Assume Title Role in Mary Poppins Tour

Steffanie Leigh assume the title role in the North American tour of Mary Poppins, on February 8, as the production plays an engagement at the Orpheum Theatre in Omaha, NE. She replaces Caroline Sheen, who will play her final performance on February 6.

Leigh has understudied the role in the touring production. Among her other stage credits are productions of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Beauty and the Beast, 42nd Street, Into the Woods, Grease, Mame, and Les Miserables.

The company also features Nicolas Dromard (Bert), Michael Dean Morgan (George Banks), Blythe Wilson (Winifred Banks), Rachel Izen (Mrs. Brill), Dennis Moench (Robertson Ay), Q. Smith (Miss Andrew), Janet MacEwen (The Bird Woman), and Michael McCarty (Admiral Boom). Camille Mancuso and Paige Simunovich alternate the role of Jane Banks, while Talon Ackerman and Cade Canon Ball alternate the role of Michael Banks.

The ensemble includes Jacob ben Widmar, Kiara Bennett, Troy Edward Bowles, Elizabeth Broadhurst, Debra Cardona, Eric Coles, Carol Angeli Dillard, Case Dillard, Elizabeth Earley, Geoffrey Goldberg, Mark Harapiak, Eric Hatch, Garett Hawe, Tiffany Howard, Kelly Jacobs, Sam Kiernan, Stephanie Martignetti, Vanessa McMahan, Koh Mochizuki, Shua Potter, Chuck Rea, Nick Sanchez, Chuck Rea, Jesse Swimm, Jen Taylor, Rachel Wallace and Michelle E. White.

The musical, based on stories by P.L. Travers and the Oscar-winning 1964 Walt Disney film of the same title, is directed by Richard Eyre, with co-direction and choreography by Matthew Bourne and additional choreography by Stephen Mear. It has a book by Julian Fellows, and uses the original film score by Robert and Richard Sherman, augmented by new songs written by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.
