Diana DeGarmo will star as Dorothy in a tour of OZ, the Musical, which will play several cities in Texas during the month of February.

The musical is written and directed by Todrick D. Hall, and is described as a contemporary twist on L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

DeGarmo was the runner-up to Fantasia in the 2004 season of American Idol. She played Penny Pingleton in the Broadway production of Hairspray, headlined the national tour of Brooklyn: The Musical, and other musical theater credits include Annie, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and West Side Story.

The tour will kick off in Abilene on February 5 at the Abilene Civic Center, travel to Dallas’ Majestic Theater (February 8 and 9), then on to Fort Worth’s Will Rogers Memorial Auditorium (February 10 and 11), with additional stops in Waco, Beaumont, Austin, McAllen, and Corpus Christi.
