Casting Announced for Double Indemnity at ACT Theatre

ACT Theatre will conclude its 2011 season with the thriller, Double Indemnity by James M. Cain. The play is adapted for the stage in this premiere by David Pichette and R. Hamilton Wright, which will run in the Falls Theatre, October 21-November 20. Kurt Beattie will direct.

Set in 1930’s Los Angeles, Double Indemnity follows discontented insurance agent Walter Huff as he encounters irresistable temptations and embarks on a dark journey to escape his life. The play is inspired by the notorious murder trial of Ruth Snyder and Judd Gray in 1927. The film adaptation, directed by Billy Wilder from a screenplay by Wilder and Raymond Chandler, premiered in 1944.

The cast includes John Bogar (Walter Nuff), Jessica Martin (Lola Nirlinger/Nettie/Nurse), Carrie Paff (Phyllis Nirlinger), Mark Anderson Phillips (Norton/Jackson/Nino) and Richard Ziman (Keyes/Nirlinger).
