Richard H. Blake, Christian Borle, Orfeh, Michael Rupert, Kate Shindle, and Nicole Ruth Snelson will join previously announced star Laura Bell Bundy in the Broadway musical Legally Blonde. The show is scheduled to run January 23-February 24 at San Francisco's Orpheum Theater. Performances at the Palace Theater in New York will begin on April 3, with an official opening on April 29.

The musical, which is based on the popular 2001 movie, is about Elle Woods (Bundy), a determined if seemingly ditzy college student who decides to become the first member of her sorority to attend Harvard Law School. The show will mark the Broadway directorial debut of Tony Award-winning choreographer Jerry Mitchell, who will also choreograph. It has a score by Nell Benjamin and Laurence O'Keefe, and a book by Heather Hach. The production will feature set design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and Paul Miller, sound design by ACME Sound Partners, and music direction by James Sampliner.

Also featured in the cast are Annaleigh Ashford, April Berry, Paul Canaan, Lindsay Chambers, Beth Curry, Tracy Jai Edwards, Amber Efe, Gaelen Gilliland, Jason Gillman, Becky Gulsvig, Rod Harrelson, Manuel Herrera, Andy Karl, Nick Kenkel, Michelle Kittrell, Leslie Kritzer, Dequina Moore, Rusty Mowery, Kevin Pariseau, Matthew Risch, Jason Patrick Sands, Noah Weisberg, Kate Wetherhead, and Donna Vivino. Elle's dog Bruiser, a chihuaha, will be played by Chico, while Rufus, a bulldog, will be played by Teddy.

Blake, who will play Warner, is currently appearing as Glen in The Wedding Singer. Borle, who will play Emmett, is currently appearing in Spamalot and starred opposite now-wife Sutton Foster in Thoroughly Modern Millie. Orfeh, who will play Paulette, starred on Broadway in Saturday Night Fever. Rupert, who will play Professor Callahan, is a Tony Award winner for Sweet Charity. Shindle, who will play Vivienne, is a former Miss America; she starred on Broadway in Cabaret. Snelson, who will play Brooke, is currently starring Off-Broadway in How to Save the World and Find True Love in 90 Minutes.
