Aurora Theatre Company Set to Begin Expansion

Currently in its 17th season, the Aurora Theatre Company has announced its plans to expand the Addison Street space where the company currently resides.

Having reached $1.3 million in cash and pledges for their $2.1 million capital campaign, Aurora will officially break through the wall connecting its current space to an adjacent space during a ceremony, January 12. Bay Area actor and director Barbara Oliver, along with Dorothy Bryant, Marge Glicksman, Richard Rossi, and Ken Grantham formed Aurora Theatre Company in 1992. Originally presenting productions in a 67-seat drawing room at the Berkeley City Club, the company moved to their current 150-seat space in the downtown Berkley arts district.

In related news, the Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust has announced its support with a $200,000 grant, payable over four years to the company. The Bernard Osher Foundation has also awarded a grant of $45,000 to Aurora Theatre Company’s capital campaign.
