42nd Street Moon has announced casting for its production of Strike Up the Band, to be presented at the Eureka Theatre, April 6-24, with an opening on April 9. Zach Thomas Wilde will direct, with music direction by Dave Dobrusky.

Originally was written in 1927, by George S. Kaufman and George and Ira Gershwin, the satirical show closed on the road and was resurrected in a watered-down (but successful) version in 1930. 42nd Street Moon will be presenting the original 1927 version of the show. The score includes Gershwin classics like the title song, “The Man I Love,” “I’ve Got a Crush on You,” “Soon” and “Meadow Serenade.”

Heading the cast will be Carson Church as Horace Fletcher with Michael Scott Wells as Jim Townsend, Samantha Bruce as Joan Fletcher and Stephanie Rhoads as Mrs. Draper. The cast also includes Timothy Harper as Luke Chapman, Gabriel Grilli as C. Edgar Sloane, Eric Wenborg as Colonel Holmes, Sharon Rietkirk as Mrs. Draper’s daughter Anne, and Benjamin Knoll as Mr. Spelvin. Others in the cast are Benjamin Pither, Jack Sale, Samantha Bartholomew, Megan Amanda Hopp, and Amie Shapiro.

The creative team will include Sarah Phykitt (set design), Scarlett Kellum (costumes), and Robert Ted Anderson (lighting).
