Rajiv Joseph’s The North Pool is the winner of the 2011 Glickman Award, according to published reports.

In The North Pool, a Middle Eastern high school student is under scrutiny from his vice principal, but secrets haunt them both at Sheffield High. The play received its world premiere at Palo Alto’s TheatreWorks, which also staged Fly By Night, a 2011 Glickman Honorable Mention recipient.

The Glickman award exists to honor the best new play of the year which premiered in the San Francisco Bay Area. Previous winners include such well-known playwrights as Tony Kushner and Sarah Ruhl.
