The Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre (PICT) production of Alan Bennett’s The History Boys will not be seen via live streaming video on the web, according to a report in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The theater had announced that it would broadcast an August 15th performance of Boys on a new portal site, www.LIPLO.com.

LIPLO™ – the acronym for “Live and In Person and Live and Online” – was developed by PICT co-founder and operations director Stephanie Riso in conjunction with Alex Geis of 21 Productions. Between 2007 and 2008, they had great success using LIPLO™ to live stream cabaret entertainment. The change in PICT’s plans for History Boys has come about because the company has been unable to secure permission from Actors’ Equity Association and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists for the test run of LIPLO with a full production.
