Lantern Theater Company Announces 2010-2011 Season

The Lantern Theater Company has announced productions and preliminary casting for its 2010-2011 season.

The season will open with a production of Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya (October 21-November 21), directed by Kathryn MacMillan and featuring David Blatt, Peter DeLaurier, Charlie DelMarcelle, Ann Gundersheimer, David Howey, Melissa Lynch, Ceal Phelan, and Sarah Sanford. In conjunction with the production, Lantern will present The Chekhov Festival (November 5-7), which will include special performances, readings, and discussions with scholars over Russian-themed dinners.

The company will then present The Anthony Lawton Festival (December 3-19), with productions of The Great Divorce, based on the novel by C.S. Lewis and adapted and performed by Lawton; The Devil and Billy Markham, based on the play by Shel Silverstein, also adapted and performed by Lawton; and Heresy, an original play written and performed by Lawton.

Martin McDonagh’s A Skull in Connemara will be presented January 13-February 6, directed by M. Craig Getting and Kathryn MacMillan, and featuring Jake Blouch, Jered McLenigan, Ellen Mulroney, and Stephen Novelli. It will be followed by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (March 10-April 10), directed by Charles McMahon and featuring David Blatt, Charlie DelMarcelle, Lee Ann Etzold, Charlotte Ford, Dave Johnson, Benjamin Lloyd, David Sweeny, Bradley K. Wrenn, and more.

The season will conclude with Morris Panych’s Vigil (May 19-June 12), directed by Peter DeLaurier, and featuring Lenny Haas and Ceal Phelan.
