Philadelphia Barrymore Award Nominations Are Announced

Nominations for the 16th annual Barrymore Awards, honoring the best in Philadelphia-area theater, have been announced. The awards will be presented in an October 4 ceremony at the Walnut Street Theatre, followed by a reception at the Benjamin Franklin House ballroom.

The Walnut’s production of Fiddler on the Roof leads the nominations with 13, including nods for best musical production; stars Mark Jacoby (Tevye) and Mary Martello (Golde); supporting actors Rita Markova, Gianna Yanelli, Nick Dalton, and Marcus Stevens; and director Bruce Lumpkin.

Among the many productions with multiple nominations are Philadelphia Theatre Company’s The Light in the Piazza, Arden Theatre Company’s Sunday in the Park with George, the Lantern Theater Company’s staging of David Hare’s The Breath of Life, and the WIlma Theatre’s production of Becky Shaw.

Performers nominated for their work include Whitney Bashor, Jeremy Bobb, Janine Divita, Ben Dibble, Sherri L. Edelen, Jennie Eisenhower, Matthew Scott, Hugh Panaro, Pete Pryor, Paul Schoeffler, and C. Kelly Wright.
