Wrestlers Eric "The Smoke" Moran and Tony "Hitman" Stetson Set for The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity

By Dan Bacalzo • Oct 8, 2009 • Philadelphia
Philadelphia-based wrestlers Eric "The Smoke" Moran and Tony "Hitman" Stetson will be featured in the cast of Interact Theatre Company's staging of Kristoffer Diaz's The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity, to be presented at The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre, October 23-November 22. Seth Rozin will direct.

The winner of the 2008 National Latino Playwrighting Award, the play is set in the larger-than-life world of professional wrestling, and pits long-time reigning THE Wrestling champion, Chad Deity, against Vigneshwar Paduar (a.k.a. VP), a trash-talking, India-born athlete recruited from the b-ball courts of Brooklyn.

The cast will also include Juan Pacheco, Donté Bonner, Jeb Kreager, Shalin Agarwal, Nick Martorelli, and Samantha Clarke. The design team will include Adam Riggar (set), Peter Whinnery (lighting), Rosemarie McKelvey (costumes), Mark Valenzuela (sound), and Steve Organ (video).
