Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre Announces Shakespeare in the World Lecture Series

The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre and the Barnes Foundation has created a Friday evening lecture/performance series entitled Shakespeare in the World.

The series begins on September 21, when Dr. Katherine Rowe will lead the discussion Shakespeare in Translation, focusing on The Tempest and its most famous adaptation, Aime Cesaire’s _Une Tempete_.

Dr. Annalisa Castaldo will investigate gender and magic on October 19 in her discussion, Magic and Witches in Macbeth, focusing on the play’s famous “Weird Sisters.”

The subject of Shakespeare’s appeal around the world will be discussed on November 16 in Dennis Austin Britton’s Global Shakespeare talk.

Finally, on December 21, Dr. Matt Kosuzko will lead Shakespeare and Genuine Emotion, a talk about Hamlet and the way it has captured the attention of audiences for so many years.
