Wanda Sykes to Play Miss Hannigan in Media Theatre’s Annie

Four-time Emmy Award winner Wanda Sykes will play the iconic role of Miss Hannigan in Media Theatre’s production of the musical Annie, November 23-December 12, and returning after a brief hiatus, January 12-16. Jesse Cline will direct the production.
Sykes is currently nominated for two 2010 Emmy Awards, both for her HBO comedy special I’ma Be Me. She portrayed the role of Barb in the CBS series The New Adventures of Old Christine for five seasons, which also earned her an Emmy nomination. She has won four Emmy Awards, in 1999 for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music, or Comedy Special for The Chris Rock Show and three more (in 2002, 2004, and 2005) for her work on Inside the NFL.
