Residencies have been awarded to Bi Jean Nigo, Tara Tagliaferro, and Kaci Fannen, while Thomas Choinacky has been given the grant for his solo piece Thomas is Titanic.
Ngo will work with Aaron Cromie on her piece Vietnam Stories, a collection of stories about the lives of her parents as they navigate love, marriage, child rearing, and the socio-economic landscape of America.
Tagliaferro will work with Matt Mastronardi on her cabaret piece I Can't Read Music, a celebration of performers including Shirley Temple, Carol Burnett, and Betty Hutton, none of whom could read the music they performed.
Fannin will work with Jeff Coon on her multi-character solo piece Enlarge, a film-noir-style work about a faded over-the-top cabaret diva.
Choinacky's Thomas is Titanic explores the author's obsession with the history of the ship, the blockbuster film, and the film's star, Kate Winslet, featuring a one-man reenactment of the movie and performed with puppets, miniature oceans, and a movement ballet of the Titanic's sinking.
