Hotel Obligado will present its original production, Beauty Is at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts’ Harold Prince Theatre, May 23.

Sparked by the influence of methamphetamines (known as “Tina”) on gay communities across America, Beauty Is uses physical theater to explore the underlying emotional reasons why people engage in self-destructive behavior and to raise awareness about the dangers of crystal methamphetamine.

The cast includes Kim Carson, Justin Jain, Scott McPheeters, and Josh Totora. Since its debut in Philadelphia, Hotel Obligado has performed Beauty Is at Saint Joseph’s University and a three-week residency at The Lab Theatre in San Francisco. The company will also perform Beauty Is at the 2008 Philadelphia Fringe Festival this September.
