Marilu Henner Joins the Cast of The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife at Bucks County Playhouse

Henner performed in the original Broadway production of the Charles Busch play in 2002.

New Hope, Pennsylvania’s Bucks County Playhouse has announced that Marilu Henner plans to join the cast of Charles Busch’s Tony Award-nominated play, The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife, the final production of the theater’s 2013 summer season. Running from August 15-September 1, Henner will be reprising her performance in the role of Lee, which she played on Broadway after joining the original production in May 2002. Her other Broadway credits include Chicago, Social Security, Pal Joey, Over Here!, and Grease. She is probably best known for her role as Elaine O’Connor Nardo on the sitcom Taxi and has gained recent publicity for her appearances on NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice.

Henner will join an all-star cast that includes four-time Academy Award nominee and Broadway veteran Marsha Mason (Impressionism), David Garrison (Married With Children), and Lynn Cohen (Sex and the City).

Directed by Tony Award-winning actor Boyd Gaines (Gypsy), The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife follows a middle-aged doctor’s wife named Marjorie Taub who lives with her husband, Ira, on the Upper West Side. Her mid-life crisis is soon interrupted by Lee, a former childhood friend, who inserts herself in Marjorie’s life.

Producing Director Jed Bernstein commented on the upcoming production: “This amazing cast, which now includes the fabulous Marilu Henner, is the perfect ending to what is sure to be an incredible summer season at the Bucks County Playhouse.”
