Richard Howard, Cristofer Jean, Lisa Tejero Set for Oregon Shakespeare Festival Reading of 8

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is set to present a reading of American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER) founding board member Lance Black’s 8, August 5 at 8:30pm in the New Theatre.

8 is an account of the Federal District Court trial in Perry v. Schwarzenegger, the case filed by AFER to overturn Proposition 8, which stripped gay and lesbian Californians of the freedom to marry. The script is based on the actual words of the trial transcripts, first-hand observations of the courtroom drama, and interviews with the plaintiffs and their families.

The cast will feature Richard Howard, Cristofer Jean, Jackie Katzman, Christopher Livingston, Jadele McPherson, DeLanna Studi, Lisa Tejero, Matthew Whitfield, and others to be announced soon.

The reading will be followed by a talkback at which cast, audience members, and AFER Plaintiffs Kris Perry and Sandy Stier can discuss the issues presented in the play.

All proceeds will go to support the American Foundation for Equal rights.
