Former Central Intelligence Agency employee Edward Snowden is set to appear, in prerecorded-video form, in the Public Theater's upcoming production of Privacy, reports the New York Times. According to the article, Snowden will speak about the concept of privacy and perform passages from Shakespeare with the show's star, Daniel Radcliffe.

Radcliffe makes his off-Broadway debut in Privacy, a new play cocreated and written by James Graham and cocreated and directed by Josie Rourke. The drama, a coproduction of the Public Theater and Donmar Warehouse, begins previews July 5 at the Public, with opening night set for July 18. The run will conclude August 14.

Inspired by the revelations of Edward Snowden, who leaked classified information from the National Security Agency in 2013, the play explores our complicated relationship with technology and data through the funny and heartbreaking travails of a lonely man (Radcliffe) who arrives in the city to figure out how to like, tag, and share his life without giving it all away. The play uncovers what our technological choices reveal about who we are, what we want, and who's keeping track of it all.

Joining Radcliffe will be De'Adre Aziza (Passing Strange), Raffi Barsoumian (Pericles), Michael Countryman (Boardwalk Empire), Rachel Dratch (Ripcord), and Reg Rogers (You Can't Take It With You), playing an ensemble of real-life, high-profile politicians, journalists, and technologists who have all contributed exclusively to the show.
