Chris Diamantopoulos and Becki Newton will star in the New York City Encores! production of Girl Crazy, November 19-22. Jerry Zaks will direct, with choreography by Warren Carlyle and music direction by Rob Fisher.

Featuring music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin and book by Guy Bolton and Jack McGowan, the show tells the tale of sophisticated New Yorker Danny Churchill (Diamantopoulos) who is marooned in a dusty Western cow town with no one to love but Molly Gray (Newton), the only woman within 50 miles.

The cast will also feature Jeremy Beck (Pete Howell), Ana Gasteyer (Frisco Kate Fothergill), Mylinda Hull (Patsy West), Wayne Knight (Gieber Goldfarb), Marc Kudisch (Slick Fothergill), Richard Poe (Jake Howell), Daniel Stewart Sherman (Lank Sanders), and Gregory Wooddell (Tom Mason).

The creative team will include John Lee Beatty (sets), William Ivey Long (costumes), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting), and Scott Lehrer (sound).

Newton plays Amanda Tanen in Ugly Betty, while Diamantopoulos is best known for his work on the USA series The Starter Wife and has appeared on Broadway in The Full Monty and Les Miserables. They are married in real life.
