Freckleface Strawberry the Musical to End New World Stages Run April 24, Re-Open in MMAC Theatre August 3

Freckleface Strawberry the Musical will conclude its current Off-Broadway run at New World Stages on April 24, and re-open in the brand-new MMAC Theatre at 248 West 60th Street, on August 3.

The show is based on the popular children’s book by Julianne Moore and has music and lyrics by Gary Kupper and book by Kupper and Rose Caiola. Buddy Crutchfield directs with Gail Pennington Crutchfield providing choreography.

The musical focuses on a young woman who has to learn to accept the freckles on her face, for which she is unmercifully teased by classmates. The cast currently features American Idol veteran Sanjaya Malakar along with Remy Zaken, Julia Bray, Andrew Cristi, Linda Gabler, Kimiko Glenn, Mykal Kilgore and Morgan Smith.

MMAC Theatre is a brand-new 199-seat Off-Broadway venue that will launch as part of the Manhattan Movement and Arts Center.
