Playwrights Horizons celebrated the Off-Broadway opening of Leslye Headland’s new play Assistance on Tuesday, February 28, with a post-performance celebration at Heartland Brewery.
Trip Cullman directs the workplace comedy, about a team of assistants working for a high-powered, horrible and obnoxious (and unseen) boss. The cast is led by Michael Esper and Virginia Kull, with Sue Jean Kim, Lucas Near-Verbrugghe, Amy Rosoff, and Bobby Steggart.
The creative team includes Jeffry Denman (choreography), David Korins (scenic design), Jessica Pabst (costume design), Ben Stanton (lighting design), and Jill BC Du Boff (sound design).
Guests at the performance included Playwrights Horizons artistic director Tim Sanford, Aya Cash, Erin Denman, Aubrey Dollar, John Dossett, Shannon Esper, Meredith Forlenza, Michael Greif, Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Angela Lewis, J. Mallory-McCree, Kelly McCreary, Michelle Pawk, Nicky Silver, and Lois Smith.
