Pan Asian Rep Announces Casting for Vietnam Project II: Past and Present

Pan Asian Repertory Theatre has announced casting for Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc’s We Are and Derek Nguyen’s Monster, to be presented under the rubric of the Vietnam Project II: Past and Present, which will run March 18 – April 17 at the West End Theatre. Ngoc will direct his own script, while Kaipo Schwab will direct Nguyen’s play.

We Are, which will run March 18-26, focuses on the legacy of Vietnamese women who marry or work abroad. The company, comprised of artists from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and North America, will feature Lê Khanh, Thái Hòa Lê, Ngoc Dang, Leon Le, Nguyen thi Minh Ngoc, Chantal Thuy and Tienne Vu, as well as singer Kim Minh and guitarist Duc Tri, who will perform Trinh Cong Son’s original music.

The creative team will include Kim Tran (scenic design), Bao Tron Chi (costume design), and Ji-youn Chang (lighting design). Ian Bui will provide the translation for the bilingual production.

Monster, a modern day detective drama, centers on the disappearance of a Vietnamese high school student following a brutal hate crime. The company will feature Daniel Lê, Deanna Gibson, Justin R. G. Holcomb, Tonia Jackson, Brad Lewandowski, Patricia Randell, Claro de los Reyes, and Tran T. Thuc Hanh.

Scenic designer Gian Marco Lo Forte; costume designer Carol Pelletier; lighting designer Ji-youn Chang, and video coordinator Rocco D’Santi will comprise the creative team for Monster.
