The Vineyard Theatre has announced its first two productions for 2011.
The company will begin the year with Zach Helm’s Interviewing the Audience, to run February 3-27. In this show, Helm invites volunteers from the audience onto the stage and interviews them, creating a new piece of theater each evening.
Helm’s previous work for the stage includes Good Canary. In addition, he wrote the screenplays for such films as Stranger Than Fiction as well as Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, which he also directed.
The Vineyard will also produce the world premiere of Christopher Shinn’s Picked, scheduled to begin performances in mid-March. The play focuses on what happens when a legendary director casts a young actor as the lead in a big-budget Hollywood movie. Cast and creative team for the piece will be announced shortly.
Shinn’s other plays include the Pulitzer Prize finalist, Dying City, the Obie Award-winning Where Do We Live, and What Didn’t Happen.
