Kenneth Lonergan, James Gandolfini Developing Taxi-22 for HBO

Academy Award nominee Kenneth Lonergan will write for the new HBO comedy project Taxi-22, according to a report on Deadline.com. In addition, he will executive produce the show with its possible star, James Gandolfini.

Taxi-22 is adapted from a hit series in Quebec that focuses on a politically incorrect cabdriver. For the HBO version, the action will be set in New York.

Lonergan received Oscar nominations for his screenplays for You Can Count on Me and Gangs of New York. Among his many plays are This Is Our Youth, The Waverly Gallery, Lobby Hero, and The Starry Messenger.

Gandolfini appeared on Broadway in God of Carnage. He is best known for his role as Tony Soprano on HBO’s The Sopranos.
