Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln Announces Additional Casting

Updated casting has been announced for the movie Lincoln, according to EW.com. As previously reported, Steven Spielberg will direct the film, which will have a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner.


The movie will focus on Lincoln and the powerful men of his cabinet as they struggle with the abolishment of slavery and seek to end the Civil War.


As previously announced, the film will star Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role and Sally Field as his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln.


The cast will also feature stage veterans David Strathairn as William Seward, Gregory Itizn as John Campbell, Jared Harris as Ulysses S. Grant, Byron Jennings as Montgomery Blair, Julie White as Elizabeth Blair Lee, Hal Holbrook as Frances Preston Blair, Tim Blake Nelson as Richard Schell, James Spader as W.N. Bilbo, Jeremy Strong as John Nicolay, S. Epatha Merkerson as Lydia Smith, Dakin Matthews as John Usher, Richard Topol as James Speed, and Gloria Reuben as Elizabeth Keckley.
