Liz Callaway, Mario Cantone, B.D. Wong, Karen Ziemba, et al. Set for Encompass New Opera Theatre Gala

An initial lineup of participants has been announced for Encompass New Opera Theatre’s annual gala to be held on Sunday, November 14 at 6:30pm at the National Arts Club. The event will serve to honor Richard Maltby, Jr., David Shire, and John Weidman.
The event will feature selections of songs by Maltby and Shire as well as from musicals by Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman and Scott Frankel. Among the artists scheduled to perform are Fred Applegate, Liz Callaway, Mario Cantone, Cicily Daniels, Michael K. Lee, Julia Lema, Arthur W. Marks, James Moye, Michael Rose, Tony Perry, Amy Jo Phillips, Alexander Scheitinger, Lynne Wintersteller, B. D. Wong, and Karen Ziemba. Accompaniment will be provided by Frankel, along with Beth Ertz, Paul Ford, Alva Nelson, and Alex Rybeck.
In addition to the performances, Sheldon Harnick, Susan Stroman and Maury Yeston will offer reflections and recollections of the honorees’ work. Additional guests will be announced at a later date.
