Ethan Hawke will receive the third annual Michael Mendelson Award for Outstanding Commitment to the Theater at the New Group's gala benefit, to be held at Chelsea Piers on Monday, November 10, beginning at 6:30 pm.
Grammy Award-winning artist Norah Jones will perform at the event, which will also include a live auction. Guests slated to attend include Billy Crudup, Vincent D'Onofrio, John Leguizamo, Sam Rockwell, and Lili Taylor.
Hawke received a Tony nomination for The Coast of Utopia, and also appeared on Broadway in Henry IV and The Seagull. He starred in the New Group's production of Hurlyburly and directed the company's production of Things We Want. He received Academy Award nominations for his performance in Training Day, and his adapted screenplay of Before Sunset. Additional film credits include Dead Poets Society, Assault on Precinct 13, Hamlet, Gattaca, and Reality Bites.
