Jayne Atkinson will play Ruth in the upcoming revival of Noël Coward's Blithe Spirit, which will begin performances at the Shubert Theater on February 26, in advance of a March opening, according to Variety. The production will be directed by Michael Blakemore, who won two Tony Awards in 2000 for Copenhagen and Kiss Me Kate.

As previously announced, Rupert Everett, Angela Lansbury, Christine Ebersole, and Simon Jones have also been cast in principal roles, with additional casting to be announced shortly. The creative team will include set designer Peter J. Davison, costume designer Martin Pakledinaz, and lighting designer Brian MacDevitt.

The show, about a happily married man haunted by the spirit of his dead first wife, originally ran on Broadway from 1941-1943 and was revived in 1987. It also was the basis for the musical High Spirits.

Atkinson's Broadway credits include The Rainmaker and Enchanted April, for which she received Tony Award nominations. Her other stage credits include Ivanov, 33 Variations, and All My Sons.
