Korea’s Hero: The Musical to Play Lincoln Center

The award-winning Hero: The Musical will make its American debut at Lincoln Center’s at the David H. Koch Theater, August 23-September 3. Ho Jin Yun will direct.

With book and lyrics by A Reum Han, music by Sang Joon Oh, and orchestration by Peter Casey, Hero: The Musical tells the epic story of activist An Chunggun who sacrificed his life in the fight to preserve Korean independence and attain peace in Asia. The piece premiered in Seoul in 2009 and won all the major awards in the annual Korean musical theater award ceremonies including Best Musical.

The cast will include Sung Hwa Jung as An Chuggun, Sung Gee Kim as Ito Hirobumi, Sang Eun Lee as Sorhui, and Mi Do Jeun as Lingling, along with Sung Hyuk Moon, Hwee Cho, Jin Woong Lim, Eui UK Jeong, Yong Hee Lim, Gi Young Chang, Young Wan Kim, and Hong Seok Suh.

The creative team will include musical director Moon Jyung Kim, choreography Ran Young Lee, scenic designer Dong Woo Park, costume designer Ji Yeon Kim, lighting designer Yun Young Koo, sound designer Do Kyung Kwon, make-up and hair designer Hee Sun Yang, and prop designer Hee Jung Im.
