Stage and screen star Sigourney Weaver will be honored by The National Audubon Society at the organization’s eighth annual Women in Conservation Luncheon at The Plaza in New York on May 23.
She and artist and architect Maya Lin will receive the Rachel Carson Award, established in 2004 to recognize women whose dedication, talent and energy have advanced the environmental movement locally and globally.
Weaver was Tony-nominated for Hurlyburly and her additional stage credits include Crazy Mary, Mrs. Farnsworth, Gemini, and Sex and Longing. She is a three-time Academy Award nominee for Aliens, Gorillas in the Mist, and Working Girl. She was also nominated for Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Awards for her work in Prayers for Bobby. Among her most recent film credits is the hit Avatar.
