Mike Birbiglia, John Leguizamo, Michael Shannon, et al. Nominated for Patrick Lee Theater Blogger Awards

Nominations have been announced for the 3rd annual Patrick Lee Theater Blogger Awards. Presented by the Independent Theater Bloggers Association, the awards have been named after blogger and TheaterMania contributor Patrick Lee, who passed away last year.

Competing in the category of Outstanding New Broadway Musical are Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Catch Me If You Can, The Book of Mormon, The Scottsboro Boys and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.

Outstanding New Broadway Play nominees are Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, Brief Encounter, Good People, Jerusalem and War Horse.

Outstanding Broadway Musical Revival nominees are Anything Goes and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

Nominated for Outstanding Broadway Play Revival are Arcadia, Born Yesterday, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Merchant of Venice, and The Normal Heart.

In Off-Broadway categories, Outstanding Play nominees are Gatz, Other Desert Cities, Peter and the Starcatcher, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity, and The Metal Children, while musical nominees are Freckleface Strawberry, In Transit, The Burnt Part Boys, The Kid and We the People: America Rocks! Revival (Play or Musical) nominees are Angels in America Part 1: Millennium Approaches, Angels in America Part 2: Perestroika, Hello Again, The Little Foxes, and Three Sisters.

Nominees for Outstanding Solo Show/Performance (all venue categories) are Kimberly Faye Greenberg, One Night with Fanny Brice; John Leguizamo, Ghetto Klown; Michael Shannon, Mistakes Were Made, Mike Birbiglia, My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend, and Tim Watts, Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer.

Nominees for Outstanding Off-Off Broadway Show are Belarus Free Theater’s Discover Love, Black Watch, Dog Act, Feeder: A Love Story, Invasion!, The Gallery Players production of Reefer Madness, ReWrite, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, and Treasure Island.
