Rezo Gabriadze’s The Battle of Stalingrad will replace the previously announced Ermon and Ramona as part of this summer’s Lincoln Center Festival. The newly announced piece will run July 20-25 in the Clark Studio Theatre at John Jay College.
The Battle of Stalingrad is told in miniature and understatement as it dramatizes a huge topic: the Nazi siege of the city and is a blend of puppetry, art, cinema, poetry, and drama performed in Russian with English subtitles.
The programming change has been necessitated by health issues which have not allowed Gabriadze to complete Ermon and Ramona in time for the event. Those who purchased tickets for Ermon and Ramona may use their tickets to attend the corresponding Battle of Stalingrad performance or may request a refund.
