The New Victory Theater has announced its slate of performances for its Fall 2011 season, which will begin with the New York premiere of The Little Prince (October 1-16), written by Rick Cummins and John Scoullar. This adaptation of the French fable by Antoine de Saint- Exupéry will be directed by Susan Atkinson, and feature life-size puppets designed by Emmy Award winner and Jim Henson Muppet Workshop member Michael Schupbach and built by Monkey Boys Productions.

Scotland’s acclaimed Catherine Wheels Theatre Company will present the U.S. premiere of White (October 13-November 13), a whimsical work of contemporary theater, created by Andy Manley, and designed by Shona Reppe. It is recommended for ages 2 to 5.

Next up will be the New York premiere of the Reduced Shakespeare Company’s The Complete World of Sports (abridged) (October 21-November 6), featuring the “Bad Boys of Abridgement” — Reed Martin, Matt Rippy and Austin Tichenor — who explore every sport ever known to man – from “Neanderthal in the Middle” to Quidditch.

Australia’s Raw Metal Dance Company will present the New York premiere of Untapped! (November 11-27), a raucous, adrenaline-fueled mash-up of funk, tap, acrobatics and hip-hop featuring an all-boy crew of daredevil performers and musicians. The piece was conceptualized by the company’s creative director, Andrew Fee.

The final production for 2011 will be the New York premiere of Cirque Shanghai’s Bai Xi (December 2-January 1), featuring choreography by Brenda Didier. From climbing a three-story tower of chairs to balancing en pointe on a man’s head, this supremely gifted cadre of contortionists, aerialists and gymnasts will perform an astounding array of contemporary and traditional circus feats.
