Aasif Mandvi to Write Book of Essays
Obie Award winner and television personality Aasif Mandvi will write a book of semi-autobiographical essays, according to Deadline.com.
The book’s topics will include a young Indian boy’s dream of becoming The Fonz, and what it’s like for a Muslim child to move from Mumbai with his family to the United States in search of the American dream.
Mandvi won an Obie for his one-man show, Sakina’s Restaurant, and his other stage credits include Oklahoma! on Broadway, as well as Death Defying Acts, Trudy Blue, Guantanamo: Honor Bound to Defend Freedom, and Einstein’s Gift. He is best known for being the Middle East correspondent on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.
