Tony Winner Tharon Musser Dies at 84

Tony Award-winning lighting designer Tharon Musser has died at the age of 84 after a long illness, according to published reports.

Musser won three Tony Awards, for her work on the original productions of Follies, A Chorus Line, and Dreamgirls. Her lighting for A Chorus Line was also used in the show’s 2006 Broadway revival.

Her numerous other Broadway credits included Long Day’s Journey Into Night, Applause, A Little Night Music, The Good Doctor, Pacific Overtures, The Act, Ballroom and 42nd Street. Her last Broadway show was 1999’s The Lonesome West.

The marquees of Broadway theaters will be dimmed for one minute in her memory at 8pm on Tuesday, April 21.
