Playwright and actress Anna Deavere Smith will be among the honorees at Second Stage Theatre’s Spring Gala, to be held at 6:30pm on Monday, April 2 at Cipriani 42nd Street. The event will be directed by Jeremy Dobrish, with musical direction by Justin Levine.
The event will also honor Corporate Partner American Express and Trustees Tavener Holmes Berry and Bambi Putnam for their extraordinary commitment to the arts.
In addition to a performance by host Daniel Breaker, the evening will include a performance by Godspell star Morgan James and a sneak peak at Second Stage’s upcoming new musical, Dogfight, with creators Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
Smith performed her solo show Let Me Down Easy at Second Stage. Her many other pieces include Grace, Fires in the Mirror, and Twilight: Los Angeles. She currently co-stars on Showtime’s Nurse Jackie.
