More than 25 Asian American performing arts companies and solo artists from around the United States will participate in the first National Asian American Theater Festival, to take place at various New York City venues, June 11-24.
The festival will represent the tremendous diversity of the growing Asian American population in the United States with heritages from Cambodia, China, Japan, Korea, Laos, the Phillipines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
Among the participating companies will be East West Players, Ma-Yi Theater, National Asian American Theatre Company, Pan Asian Repertory Theatre, and Vampire Cowboys. Solo artists scheduled to appear in the festival include Regie Cabico, Aileen Cho, Jude Narita, Ping Chong, Denise Uyehara, and Marcus Young.
