Works by Jason Robert Brown, Andrew Lippa, Georgia Stitt, et al. Featured in Song Cycle Mr. President, Receiving NPR Broadcast in February

Selections from the 16-piece song cycle Mr. President will be broadcast on NPR in February in celebration of Presidents month. The song cycle is scheduled to be released on CD later this year.

Mr. President is a collection of short musical pieces, each based on the words of a specific U.S. president. The composers who have created the works in the cycle are Samuel Adler (Franklin Delano Roosevelt), Milton Babbitt (James Madison), Robert Beaser (John Fitzgerald Kennedy), Jason Robert Brown (Abraham Lincoln), Thomas Cabaniss (Theodore Roosevelt), Michael Gilbertson (George Washington), Jake Heggie (John Adams), Nora Kroll-Rosenbaum (George W. Bush), Andrew Lippa (Woodrow Wilson), David Ludwig (Harry S. Truman),Paul Moravec (Dwight David Eisenhower), Nico Muhly (Andrew Jackson), Larry Rosen (Thomas Jefferson), Georgia Stitt (Barack Obama), Zachary Wadsworth (William Jefferson Clinton), and Jesse Wiener (Ronald Reagan).

The numbers have been recorded by Judith Clurman’s group, Essential Voices USA, which is comprised of professional vocal fellows, auditioned volunteers, and high school students.
