New York City Center will increase the number of Encores! performances next season from five to seven during the 2011-2012 season, adding Wednesday evening and Sunday matinee performances.
The change to the series schedule has been necessitated by a change in the seating capacity for the venue, which will be decreased during the second phase of a previously announced capital campaign. The changes are being made in order to improve sightlines within the house and provide more comfort to patrons. The reconfiguration of the seating will include not only seat removal, but re-sloping of the floors to further improve sightlines within the house.
