Theater veterans Christine Lahti, David Rasche, Tobias Segal, Eddie Kaye Thomas, and Michael Urie will co-star alongside Thora Birch and Brittany Snow in the upcoming film Petunia. Ash Christian will direct this dark comedy, from a screenplay by Christian and Theresa Bennett. The film will begin lensing in New York City today, January 24.

The film weaves together the lives of brothers Charlie, Adrian and Michael as they unlearn everything their psychoanalyst parents have taught them.

Lahti most recently appeared on Broadway in God of Carnage, won an Emmy Award for Chicago Hope, and won an Oscar for directing the short film Lieberman in Love. Rasche’s Main Stem credits include To Be Or Not to Be and Getting and Spending. Segal appeared on Broadway in last season’s revival of The Miracle Worker and received a Drama Desk nomination for his work in From Up Here. Thomas’ theater credits include The Diary of Anne Frank, Bacherlorette, and Dog Sees God, but he is probably best known for the American Pie films. Urie starred Off-Broadway in The Temperamentals and is well known for his TV work in Ugly Betty.

Birch received a Golden Globe nomination for Ghost World and an Emmy nomination for Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story. Snow played Amber von Tussle in the film version of Hairspray.
