New Zealand New Performance Festival Announces New York City Lineup

The festival will play La MaMa.

The New Zealand based theater company Playground NZ has announced a 10-day festival of contemporary performance at La MaMa E.T.C., the New Zealand New Performance Festival. The event will take place from March 12-29.

The nine performances include the following:

On the Conditions and Possibilities of Hillary Clinton Taking Me as Her Young Lover, adapted from the book by Richard Meros by Geoff Pinfield and Arthur Meek and performed by Meek (March 12-15).

For Your Future Guidance, devised and performed by Joel Baxendale and Ralph Upton (March 19-20 and 22).

Break Up, devised by Binge Culture Collective and performed by Joel Baxendale, Fiona McNamara, Gareth Hobbs, Claire O’Loughlin, and Ralph Upton (March 21).

All Your Wants and Needs Fulfilled Forever, written by Eli Kent and directed by Robin Kerr (March 26-27).

Chet Baker: Like Someone in Love, written by David Goldthorpe and directed by David Lawrence (March 28-29).

Sleep.Wake, directed and designed by Philippa Gander and Sam Trubridge (March 19-22).

Listening Posts, created in collaboration between Sarah Burrell and Andrew Simpson (March 19-22).

So-So Gangsta, written and performed by James Nokise (March 19-22).

Nag, created and powered by Marcus McShane (March 18-20 and 22).

"We’re so excited to be able to present a slice of the creativity that’s happening, and together they provide a high quality cross section of the work that’s going on in New Zealand ," Sam Trubridge, the festival's director, said in a statement.
