After nearly two years on Broadway, Matilda The Musical has paid back its $16 million investment, sending the production at the Shubert Theatre officially into hit status.

Matilda, which is simultaneously runnning in London's West End, opened on Broadway in April 2013. Based on the beloved children's novel by Roald Dahl, the show features a score by Tim Minchin, a Tony-winning book by Dennis Kelly, and direction by Matthew Warchus.

Tori Feinstein, Eliza Holland Madore, Brooklyn Shuck, and Fina Strazza lead the cast as the titular Matilda, a little girl with a big imagination who dares to change her own destiny. They are joined by Christopher Sieber as the evil Miss Trunchbull, Lesli Margherita, and Matt Harrington as the Wormwoods, Alison Luff as Miss Honey, and Karen Aldridge as Mrs. Phelps.

The London production of Matilda won seven Olivier Awards and secured a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for most Oliviers won by any show ever. The musical will make its Australian premiere in August 2015.
