King Charles III, a hit West End drama that imagines what the British throne would look like after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, is expected to make its Broadway debut in the fall, according to The New York Times.

Mike Bartlett, whose plays Cock and Bull have played off-Broadway to great acclaim, is the author of this "Future History Play," which begins as Prince Charles assumes kingship and causes a government crisis when he refuses to sign a bill limiting freedom of the press. Goold directs the production, which originated at London's Almeida Theatre before moving to Wyndham's Theatre on the West End.

A full timeline and casting for the Broadway run has not yet been announced. It is expected, however, that Tim Pigott-Smith, who plays Charles, will reprise his performance. The principal company also includes Margot Leicester as Camilla, Oliver Chris as Prince William, Lydia Wilson as Catherine, Richard Goulding as Prince Harry, Adam James, and Nicholas Rowe.

Stuart Thompson and Sonia Friedman serve as lead producers.
