Robert Kimball to Now Host Makin’ Whoopee, Starring Howard McGillin, Laura Osnes and More

Musical theater historian Robert Kimball will now host Makin’ Whoopee: Walter Donaldson, Gus Kahn and the Jazz Age, to be offered at the 92Y, January 7-9, as part of the Lyrics and Lyricists series. He replaces the previously announced Charles Osgood, who has withdrawn due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict.

Kimball is also serving as artistic director of the concert, which will showcase the songwriting duo Donaldson & Kahn, who penned such hits as “Yes Sir, That’s My Baby,” “Love Me or Leave Me,” and “Makin’ Whoopee,” among others.

As previously reported, performers for the concert will include Broadway stars Christine Andreas, Jason Graae, Howard McGillin, and Laura Osnes, as well as the band Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks, and William Bolcom & Joan Morris on piano and vocals. Patricia Wilcox will direct, with music direction by Giordano and Peter Yarin.
