By Andy Propst • Dec 5, 2011 • New York City
Tony and Academy Award winner Jose Ferrer will be honored on a commemorative stamp to be issued by the U.S. Postal Service in 2012.

Ferrer won a Tony for his performance in Cyrano de Bergerac, and later received an Oscar for his portrayal of the character in the film. In addition, his direction of three plays -- Stalag 17, The Fourposter and The Shrike -- in one season garnered a Tony Award in 1952. Ferrer also won a Tony for his performance in The Shrike.

The stamp, part of the U.S. Postal Service's Distinguished Americans series, will be issued as a Forever stamp.
