Annette Bening, Jesse Eisenberg, Nicole Kidman, Geoffrey Rush, et al. Receive Critics Choice Movie Award Nominations

The nominations for the Broadcast Film Critics Association’s Critics Choice Movie Awards have been announced. The prizes will be presented in a ceremony to be held at the Hollywood Palladium on January 14, broadcast live on VH1 at 9pm ET/PT.

The Social Network has earned nine nominations, including one for Best Picture. Also nominated are Jesse Eisenberg, who has received a Best Actor nomination; Andrew Garfield, who has been nominated as Best Supporting Actor; and Aaron Sorkin, who will be competing in the Best Adapted Screenplay category.

In addition, the movie has been nominated for a Best Ensemble award, alongside the films The Fighter, The Kids Are All Right, The King’s Speech, and The Town.

Also nominated is Nichole Kidman, who has received a Best Actress nomination for her performance in the film version of David Lindsay-Abaire’s Rabbit Hole. Among the other nominated performers are Amy Adams, Annette Bening, Robert Duvall, Colin Firth, Natalie Portman, Sam Rockwell, Mark Ruffalo, and Geoffrey Rush.

Alan Menken and Randy Newman have both been nominated in the Best Song category, for, respectively, “I See the Light” from Tangled and “We Belong Together” from Toy Story 3. Both of these movies have also been nominated as Best Animated Feature.

Among the other nominees are Danny Boyle for his direction of 127 Hours and for the movie’s screenplay, a nomination he shares with Simon Beaufoy; Joel Coen & Ethan Coen, who are also nominated in directing and adapted screenplay categories for True Grit; and Mike Leigh, who has been nominated for Best Original Screenplay for Another Year.
