Alec Baldwin, Colin Firth, Anne Hathway, Laura Linney, Al Pacino et al. Win Satellite Awards

The winners of the International Press Academy’s Satellite Awards have been announced. The prizes were presented in a ceremony held on Sunday, December 19 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

The awards recognize excellence in both film and television. In the former category, The Social Network took the prize for best Motion Picture, Drama. The film’s director David Fincher also won in the Director category and playwright/screenwriter Aaron Sorkin picked up the prize for best Screenplay, Adapted.

Other winners in the film categories are Colin Firth, who received the award for Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama for The King’s Speech, and Anne Hathaway who has won the Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical award for her performance in Love and Other Drugs.

In the television categories, Temple Grandin has been named best Motion Picture Made for Television and its star, Clare Danes, has received the award for best Actress in a Miniseries or a Motion Picture Made for Television. Additionally, David Strathairn has won the supporting actor prize for his work on this project. Similarly, Al Pacino has been awarded the Actor in a Miniseries or a Motion Picture Made for Television prize, while Brenda Vaccaro has picked up the award for supporting actress on the HBO movie.

Another dual win went to the Showtime series The Big C, which has earned the Television Series, Comedy or Musical award as well as an award for the show’s star, Laura Linney, who’s won as Actress in a Series, Comedy or Musical. And, the Actor in a Series, Comedy or Musical prize has gone to Alec Baldwin for 30 Rock.
