Alaina Reed Hall Dies at 63

Actress and singer Alaina Reed Hall died on December 17 at the age of 63. She had been battling breast cancer, according to published reports.

Her Broadway credits included the original Broadway production of Chicago, in which she took over the role of Matron Mama Morton, the 1977 revival of Hair, and Eubie!. She appeared Off-Broadway in In Trousers and A…My Name Is Alice and sang in many New York cabarets.

She played the role of Olivia on the PBS show Sesame Street and Rose on the hit sitcom 227. Her other television credits include A Different World, Friends and Ally McBeal.
