Paul Giamatti and Anthony Mackie to Star in Babylon Film

Stage veterans Paul Giamatti and Anthony Mackie will co-star in the new film Babylon, to be directed by Andres Baiz and written by Ian Stone, according to Variety. Filming is expected to begin in February.

The pair will play a British minister and a rural resident of Jamaica who accompany a 12-year-old boy from the Kingston ghetto while trying to outrun gangsters.

Giamatti has appeared on Broadway in The Iceman Cometh, The Three Sisters, Racing Demon, and Arcadia. His film credits include Sideways and the upcoming Duplicity, and he won the Emmy Award for his work in HBO’s John Adams. Mackie’s stage credits include Drowning Crow, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, McReele, and Fences. He will soon be seen as the late Tupac Shakur in the film Notorious.
